Find out more with our frequently asked questions.

Is electrolysis permanent?

Electrolysis is the only method of hair removal considered permanent by the United States Food and Drug administration (FDA).

What does electrolysis feel like?

How electrolysis feels is dependent on several factors. Every person will have a different experience. Various areas of the body experience different sensations. The feeling has been compared to a small sensation of heat within the skin or a tingling sensation.

Is electrolysis safe?

Unlike other methods of hair removal, electrolysis is safe and effective for permanent hair removal on all skin types, skin colors and all hair colors.

How many electrolysis treatments will be necessary?

The amount of treatments necessary to achieve permanent hair removal will vary from individual to individual. It is dependent on many factors. We will be able to give a preliminary estimate of how many treatments will be needed after a thorough evaluation.

Why do I see new hair growth in the treated area?

What you are likely seeing is hair growing from untreated follicles. Repeat treatments are generally necessary for permanent removal, but growth from a treated follicle requires up to 8 weeks to appear.

How long do treatments take?

Depending on the area being treated, the type of hair, and your sensitivity, treatments generally take between 15 minutes and an hour to complete. Some body treatments can last up to 3 hours for experienced clients.

Is one type of treatment most effective?

Of the three methods of electrolysis, the one that is most effective for you depends on your skin, hair, and sensitivity. Let us help you determine which one is right for you.

What can one expect after electrolysis?

Some people may experience some redness and swelling in the treated areas. These usually resolve in a few hours after treatment has been completed.

Can hair in a mole be removed?

Removing hair from a mole with electrolysis has no recorded negative side effects.

How does temporary hair removal impact hair growth?

Waxing and tweezing methods of hair removal can stimulate and distort the dermal papilla, causing the hair to grow in thicker and darker.

How do ingrown hairs form?

An ingrown hair is a hair that has grown out of the side of the follicle rather than the top. The hair grows sideways, just under the skin, and causes a painful, inflamed area until the hair is removed.

Will treatment enlarge the pores?

The treatment does not cause enlarged pores, but the pores can be more noticeable after hair is removed.

Can children receive electrolysis?

Yes, electrolysis can be administered to children. Permission is required from a legal guardian in order to perform services if the child is 15 years old or younger prior to service.
